A. History
Carrying the name of the Barangay where it is located barely six kilometers away from the heart of Guinobatan, Albay, Mauraro High School has been in existence since 1991 as an extension of Malipo High School in the same municipality. It was temporarily accommodated by the Mauraro Elementary School site. In the absence of permanent rooms, MES, the Barangay social hall/pavilion served as the temporary room where formal instruction was held for one and a half years. MHS was later transferred to Mauraro Elementary School (MES) site and was allowed to occupy two of its instructional rooms.
In spite of the many difficulties: lack of classrooms, equipments, teachers and other facilities, the parents who sent their children to MHS patronized the school and gave their all out support and unwavering faith.
In 1992, new teacher items were given to MHS due to its rapid increase in enrolment, but it still remained a squatter at MES Site 2. Nevertheless, these problems did not hinder the school in participating actively in academic and other extra-curricular competitions from cluster to regional level.
Today, Mauraro High School stands as an independent institution of secondary education recognized for its valuable contribution for the development of youth who enters its portals. It is the separation from its mother high school that facilitates and other concerns will be improved with the usual support and cooperation of its stakeholders.
Mauraro High School is a Public Secondary High School with its whole management and operation anchored on the Department of Education’s policies and guidelines. Other orders, memoranda and issuances from the national, regional, division and cluster level likewise serve as schools skeletal framework of operation. It is situated on an untitled lot with a total land area of 10,000 sq.m and a student population of 1342.
